Areas of practice

Bernhard Burkert advises on all matters pertaining to public building and planning law and special urban development law. The range of his advisory services additionally includes all relevant ancillary areas, such as building-related immission control law and monument protection, road and environmental law issues. Bernhard Burkert focuses his legal practice on complex land development plan procedures and the approval of building projects, as well as providing representation in administrative court proceedings. In addition, he assists with real estate transactions in the context of public-law due diligence reviews and advises on planning and approval issues in connection with renewable energy projects.

Bernhard Burkert studied law at the University of Potsdam (Germany) from 2001 to 2006 and then carried out his legal training, which included training periods at renowned commercial law firms. After successfully completing his legal training, he went on to obtain a Master of Laws degree (LL.M. International Trade Law) from Stellenbosch University in South Africa. From 2010 to 2012, Bernhard Burkert worked for Luther as a research assistant. After joining Luther as a lawyer in 2012, he initially specialised in environmental and climate protection law and then, in 2016, started focusing his legal practice on public building and planning law. Bernhard Burkert is a member of Luther’s practice group “Environment & Planning Law, Regulatory”. Since 2018, he has additionally been a visiting lecturer at the Berlin School of Economics and Law, where he lectures on public building law with a special emphasis on building regulations as part of the dual study programme “Business Administration/Real Estate Management”.
