Leonie Herwarth von Bittenfeld advises on matters pertaining to tax law, with an emphasis on alternative investments and funds.

She has several years of experience providing tax law advice to, in particular, private equity funds and their (co-)investors and initiators. Her expertise includes advising investors, co-investors and initiators on the tax aspects of setting up new funds, as well as providing transactional tax advice regarding acquisitions, sales, refinancing transactions and reorganisations.

Leonie Herwarth von Bittenfeld further specialises in providing tax law advice to regulated and non-regulated investment funds and their (institutional) investors.

She has considerable experience reviewing (company) agreements and side letters from a tax perspective on behalf of German (co-)investors, among other things.

Leonie Herwarth von Bittenfeld studied law and business administration at EBS University for Business and Law in Wiesbaden (Germany) and at Peking University School of Transnational Law in Shenzhen (China). She passed both German state law exams, in addition to earning a Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B.) and a Master of Arts degree (M.A.) in Business for Legal Professionals from EBS University for Business and Law.

Leonie Herwarth von Bittenfeld first started gaining experience in advising credit institutions and investment funds on tax matters as part of her legal training at KPMG. Following her admission to the German Bar in 2019, she worked at PwC, where she inter alia focused on providing tax law advice to private equity funds. Leonie Herwarth von Bittenfeld joined Luther’s Frankfurt office in 2023.
