Luther strengthens its team with three new counsel in Essen and Cologne

Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH welcomes three new counsels in the fields of employment law, complex disputes and insurance law at its offices in Essen and Cologne.

Background

"We are very pleased to welcome Susanne Burkert-Vavilova, Manuel Baroch Castellvi and Dr Marco Jerczynski as three new, competent members of the Luther family," said Elisabeth Lepique, Managing Partner at Luther.

Susanne Burkert-Vavilova will strengthen Luther's employment law practice, one of the largest and most powerful on the German market, from the Essen office, thus rounding off the significant growth of the advisory field in 2021. She initially worked for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Berlin and Moscow for eight years and most recently headed the Corporate and Commercial Law department of the HOCHTIEF Group in Essen for eight years. With the addition of Susanne Burkert-Vavilova, Luther's employment law team consists of over 70 colleagues worldwide.

The Essen office, in particular the Complex Disputes Team, is also growing with the addition of Counsel Dr Marco Jerczynski, who joined Luther on 1 December from the Vaillant Group, where, as an expert in dispute resolution, he focused on litigation before state courts and arbitration tribunals as well as out-of-court disputes.

Luther's Cologne office is pleased to welcome Counsel Manuel Baroch Castellvi as of 1 December 2021. He deals with all issues of insurance supervisory law, insurance contract law and insurance distribution law. In the past, he first worked as a lawyer in an internationally active commercial law firm, then as an in-house lawyer in the insurance industry for more than 20 years, including 15 years as head of life insurance law at Zurich Group Germany, and then as a lawyer in the insurance law practice of an internationally active law firm for five years.
