Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft provided legal and tax advice to Trianel Energieprojekte GmbH & Co. KG on the sale of the “Brandenburg” solar park to a fund managed by Nuveen European Core Renewable Infrastructure Strategy (NECRI).
The solar farm, with an installed capacity of 70.4 megawatts peak (MWp), is located in Brandenburg along the Berlin–Halle railway line and was commissioned in April 2025. The plant generates more than 70 GWh of renewable electricity annually. A feed-in tariff was awarded for almost the entire capacity under the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), thereby securing a state-guaranteed feed-in tariff for more than 20 years. In addition, a flexible marketing structure opens up further revenue opportunities on the electricity market.
A cross-office Luther team led by Dr Michael Bormann advised Trianel on the transaction – from structuring the deal and providing legal support during contract negotiations to addressing financing and tax law issues relating to the sale of the solar park.
With this sale, Trianel continues the successful marketing of developed solar projects and consolidates its position as one of the leading municipal project developers for renewable energy and storage projects in Germany.
“The successful completion of this transaction demonstrates that we can reliably and systematically implement solar projects of this scale, from planning through to handover. The legal support provided by Luther played a key role in structuring the process and bringing the transaction to a swift conclusion. Nuveen’s decision to invest in a Trianel project also underscores that our projects meet the high standards of institutional investors in terms of sustainability and quality, and that the collaboration between municipal project developers and institutional investors works exceptionally well,” comments Maurice Jäckel, Senior Investment Manager at Trianel.
The project was acquired by a fund under the Nuveen European Core Renewable Infrastructure Strategy, which invests in renewable infrastructure projects in Europe and focuses on sustainable energy facilities. The solar park meets the requirements of the EU taxonomy and supports the fund’s sustainability-oriented investment strategy.
The transaction closed in January 2026. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
