Luther gains business succession expert: Dr Zacharias-Alexis Schneider moves from KPMG

Hanover – Dr Zacharias-Alexis Schneider (39) will join Luther's Hanover office as a partner on 1 July 2021. The tax expert most recently headed the Private Client Tax practice group at KPMG Germany as Tax Director. As a specialist in business succession, Dr Schneider provides tax law, restructuring and transaction advice, also at the interface between tax and corporate law.

Background

Together with Dr Schneider, Marco Niebuhr (31), a graduate in finance and lawyer, will be joining Luther as an associate from KPMG. In the past, the two have primarily advised private clients, family offices and medium-sized companies on succession issues. At Luther, they will continue to advise clients from these areas, but can now also draw on the services of the firm's notaries at the Hanover office. Dr Schneider knows the Hanover team well, having already worked for Luther as a senior associate from 2015 to 2019.

Elisabeth Lepique, Managing Partner of Luther and head of the tax law practice area, said: "With the addition of Dr Schneider, we are continuing the systematic expansion of our tax law team. At our Hanover office, we already have a focus on succession, the public sector and non-profit organisations. This focus area will now be strengthened with the new team."

Luther's tax team already grew in April 2021 when the investment tax expert Dr Bela Jansen moved from Ernst & Young to the firm's Frankfurt office as a partner. The focus of the Frankfurt office is primarily on transactions, investments and succession.
